The first full week of July reminded investors that the artificial intelligence story is evolving. For much of the past two years, attention has focused almost entirely on companies building AI chips. This week, however, investors increasingly recognized that the next phase of AI growth extends well beyond GPUs. Networking, optical connectivity, power infrastructure, memory, and custom silicon all moved into sharper focus as markets reassessed where the next wave of AI investment is likely to flow.
The shift reflects a simple reality: building larger and more capable AI models requires much more than computing power. It also requires the infrastructure that connects, powers, and manages those systems. As hyperscalers continue investing aggressively in AI data centers, companies supplying the technology behind these networks are becoming just as important as those producing the processors themselves.
