Seagate: Underrated Exposure to Exabyte Growth

I am rating Seagate Technology (STX) a STRONG BUY because the company is positioned to capture explosive, multi-year capacity demand from AI and hyperscaler growth. This is while trading at a valuation that underestimates its near-term margin and cash-generation upside.
Growth will be driven by demand for high-density HDDs, hyperscaler capacity builds, and Seagate's shift toward enterprise/AI-optimized drives, a key revenue lever expected to impact guidance and bookings.
Valuation looks attractive on a forward non-GAAP PEG and EV/EBITDA basis versus peers. Seagate’s forward PEG implies a material discount to the sector median, giving asymmetric upside if management executes on AI-tailored product ramps.
Biggest risk is a faster-than-expected SSD adoption for cold storage. Nevertheless, Seagate’s cost-per-terabyte edge and partnerships across hyperscalers make the risk manageable. Management can lean into capacity-leasing and service revenue to offset.
